They say a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down. Well, Micki was both the spoon and
the medicine, the perfect blend of sweet and sour, offering a cure for anything that ails us. Her
vivacious spirit was a balm to our souls, and her zest for life was as contagious as her laughter.
Micki leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by her devoted husband of 53 years,
Mike Daly; her loving sons, Dave Frakes and Mike Daly Jr.; her caring daughter-in-law, Beglije
Frakes; her adoring grandsons, Brandon, Andrew, Nathan Frakes, and Derek Daly; and her
cherished great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Cynthia and Lisa, also continue to carry her spirit in
their hearts.
Born and raised in Omaha, Micki's love for the Beatles and Elvis was legendary, even sparking
humorous family tales of fictitious liaisons with the King himself. A young mother, she
blossomed into the epitome of the cool and motocross mom, not just for her sons but for an
entire neighborhood of daredevil riders. Her support knew no bounds, whether at the motocross
tracks, in the drag racing pits, or cheering on the sidelines of her grandson's football games.
Within a year of marrying Mike, Micki took the reins as the undeniable boss of the household,
leaving Mike in awe for the rest of their lives together. Her secret recipe? Perhaps a mix of her
own unique brand of intimidation with a dash of unapologetic confidence.
Micki's resilience was as remarkable as her spirit. She overcame a brain aneurysm, breast
cancer, two strokes, and kidney failure with a toughness that inspired all around her. The only
lasting effect was a gradually fading "filter", giving her the liberty to say what she wanted,
whenever she wanted. Though her language might not have been suited for church, her
intentions were always pure and beautiful.
Micki's potty mouth was as legendary as her heart of gold, teaching her grandchildren the art of
cursing with panache and humor. She was a one-of-a-kind matriarch, a whirlwind of energy and
love, who could light up a room with her presence and leave a lasting impression on everyone
she met.
We were all blessed to be graced by someone as magical and light-hearted as Micki Daly. Her
spirit, laughter, and love will continue to echo in our hearts. There will never be another Micki
Daly, but her legacy of love, laughter, and living life to the fullest will live on in each of us.
Micki, you were, and always will be, our perfect balance of sweet and sour, our spoon and our medicine.
Thank you for every moment.
