Michael L. Grush

April 13, 1943 — March 24, 2015

In June of 2014, Mike was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. After a recent battle with influenza, followed by complications, he went home to be with his Savior. Michael Lee Grush was born in Omaha, NE and graduated from Central High School in 1961. He married Sharon Lee Goodrich on June 19, 1965. Mike received his B.S. and M.D. degrees from U.N.M.C. in 1968. After his internship at Immanuel Hospital, he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1969 – 1971. Mike served as a Family Physician for 3 years. He then did a pediatric residency at Creighton University from 1974-1976. In 1979 Mike became the first Pediatrician on staff at Boys Town National Research Hospital and served there until his retirement in 2012. Mike was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved reading, gardening, traveling, and being a grandpa. He was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and was passionate about the spreading of the Gospel throughout the world. Mike was preceded in death by parents John & Thelma Grush; He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Sharon; Children: Karen (David) Ommen, Lance (Karina) Grush, Renee (Kent) Willburn; Grandchildren: Danielle, Sierra, Talia, Reagan, Alex, Joseph, Sophia, Micah & Mia; Brothers: Bill (Sandra) Grush, Jim (Judy) Grush; Many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members & many friends. Celebration of Mike’s Life: Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Brookside Church (11607 M. Circle). Visitation: Friday, after 3 PM, with family present from 5-8 PM at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel). Interment: Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Army.
