Gardner, Michael Taylor July 28, 1972 – June 29, 2018 Michael Taylor Gardner, age 45 of Omaha, passed away June 29, 2018. He was born July 28, 1972 in Saratoga Springs, New York to George and Jean (Peden) Gardner. In 1990, Michael graduated as valedictorian of North Charleston High School in Charleston, South Carolina. Michael attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and finished his education at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, graduating with a degree in history. He lived and traveled many places during his life, visiting 48 out of 50 states. Michael was a passionate cook and a skilled photographer, appreciated strong coffee and good beer, and loved the ocean. He was a music and sports fan and cheered for the USNA Midshipmen, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Iowa State Cyclones. He was known for his way with words, balancing blunt honesty with a clever sense of humor. Left to remember him are his wife of 17 years, Kelli; his parents, George and Jean Gardner of Jacksonville, Florida; his brother John (Theresa) of The Dalles, Oregon; his sister, Susan of Charleston, South Carolina and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
