Michael Curtis Bragg, age 45, of Omaha, NE died on February 8, 2024. He was born in Sacramento, CA to Rick and Paula Bragg. He grew up in military communities in California, Maryland, Washington DC, Hawaii, Nebraska, and Ramstein, Germany, where he graduated from Ramstein American High School in 1995. He attended Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska for a time, but left to pursue work at First Data. After some time, he enlisted in the Air Force, where he became a Computer Systems Controller. Upon his reentry to civilian life, Michael continued working in technology at UPS, PayPal and LinkedIn. He graduated from the University of Nebraska Omaha in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Michael was brilliant. He learned how to read at 2 years old on his own, taught himself new languages far before that became easy through apps, and was a natural at all things tech related. He helped install his high school’s first LAN and could help troubleshoot almost any hardware or software question. He was a voracious reader. He was amazing at accents, voices, and storytelling. If you ever played a trivia game with him, you wanted him on your team. He loved everything pertaining to space, science, Batman, Star Wars, Lego and animals, and loved sharing these interests and all kinds of information with his children. He is survived by his parents, Rick & Paula Bragg of Charleston, SC; sister Kimberly Mackrill (Jud), nephews and nieces Gideon, Piper, Greer and Simeon of Charleston, SC; his chosen family of 15 years including 3 children, who he thought of as his own and who considered him their 2nd dad - Jeremy Wicklund, Liliana McMahon and Kat McMahon of Omaha, NE; chosen family and household members Jennifer McMahon, Steven Wicklund and Jaimie Colbert of Omaha, NE; chosen family step-son Chance Wicklund of Manhattan, KS; chosen family niece and nephew Aria and Everett Davis of Blue Springs, MO; and many other friends and extended family members.
The funeral service will be held Friday, March 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Braman Mortuary, 6505 S. 144th St. Omaha, NE 68137.
