Melvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife Francena; Survived by son Wes Smith and his wife Jackie, son Terry Smith and his wife Joan; 6 grandchildren: Francie Smith, Tracy Ebner and husband Harold, Kenny Smithand wife Emily, Josie Smith; Monica Benigno and husband Dan, Teresa Smith; 10 great grandchildren: Morgan, Maggi, Zoe, Zane, Christopher, Nicholas, Olivia, Elias, Kianu and Orilen. Melvin and his wife Fran were the owners and operators of Smith Service Center formerly located at 60th and Ames in Omaha, Nebraska, for 32 years.
