SELBERG, Maxine J. 9/9/1930 – 12/28/2019 Maxine Joyce Hokanson was born on September 9, 1930 to Helen and Edward Hokanson.She was one of eight children in the Hokanson household.Although she grew up during the depression, she told many stories of fun times with her family, friends and siblings.She met and married the love of her life, Melvin Selberg in June of 1947.They had two daughters:Patricia Jean and Pamela Joyce.Years later, Patricia (Patty) had a daughter, Melanie and Pamela (Pam) had two daughters, Elizabeth and Amanda.From then on, she was named by her granddaughters as Nana, and Melvin was named Popi.The girls and many others called her Nan.Nana and Popi loved being grandparents and took the girls on many vacations and adventures as they grew up.Melvin passed away on May 3, 1987 of an aneurysm.Maxine would spend over 32 years without him.Years later, Melanie had two boys, Mason and Maxwell whom she cared for their entire lives. Maxine spent her entire life caring for others.First as a mother, then as a grandmother, and finally as a great-grandmother.She enjoyed feeding and caring for lots of friends and family.She is the first person many would come to for advice or help with problems in their lives.She was a very generous person and gave her time, talents and money to those who needed it. Nan was also an amazing cook, seamstress, and made beautiful floral arrangements, beautiful wreaths, baskets and comforters for others.She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a social butterfly. Maxine, Nan, will be greatly missed, she was the rock of our family.Her life and stories will live with us forever.She is finally reunited with her love, Melvin, as well as her mother, father and siblings who have gone before to prepare a place for her.She leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity. Maxine was preceded in death by husband Melvin Selberg; She is survived by her Daughters, Patty Baker, Pamela J. Decker; 2 sisters; Grandchildren: Melanie, Elizabeth, Amanda; Great Grandsons Mason and Maxwell; Many other relatives and friends. Celebration of Maxine’s Life: Friday, Jan. 3, 2020 at 1:00pm, with family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
