Matthew Paul Green

October 21, 1968 — June 21, 2021

Matt attended Special Ed classes at OPS Schools of Fontenelle and Monroe. As an adult he attended Encore Workshops and became a residential and workshop client of Envisions, Inc.His last 18 months were spent in the home of George Caamal where he was a well loved and cared for family member. His favorite hobbies included thrifting, garage sales, trail walking, car drives, eating out, listening to music and watching Sesame Street. He loved holidays, especially Halloween, even the zombie walk.He enjoyed the social life at Ollie Webb Center. He was obsessed with collecting business cards, 8 by 10 drawing paper and purple crayons. He shared the family trait of loving a good nap and potatoes with gravy. A funny memory involves one summer day when Matt went missing from the family home. He was nowhere to be found in the neighborhood, until his mother thought to check the garage, where she found Matt sitting in the car with the car keys ready to go shopping.Matt’s silly brother Jack always said, “I have a brother who has an eye that can look around the corner.” While Matt’s life was simple by many people’s standards, it was nonetheless quite full. He impacted many people across Omaha whom he encountered as well as those who offered him care. This is his legacy. Many people saw Matt and considered their own gratitudes. His parents, John and Marianne, were the picture of tenacity and dedication over Matt’s 53 years. He taught his 5 siblings to be empathetic, have a sense of humor, give hard hugs, help others, appreciate the simple things in life and to love our mom and dad, always. “Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God.” Matt 5:8 Private Interment
