REYNOLDS, Mary S. 6/24/1943 – 5/24/2020 Mary Sue Bodenmiller was born June 24th 1943 in San Antonio Texas. She spent her first 13 or so years living in Texas, with stints in Cuero, Victoria and Corpus Christi.She and her family moved to Omaha in 1956 as her dad, George, relocated for his job in insurance.Mary attended Central High School, but finished her last two years of high school at Benson, where she graduated in 1961. Mary continued her schooling at University of Nebraska at Omaha for a year before focusing on family and work.She married Edward Dergan in 1963, with whom she had her two boys, Scott in 1965, and Doug in 1968. Her marriage to Ed, and a subsequent marriage, ended in divorce, and she kept the name of her last husband.She would be known as Mary Reynolds from the late ‘70s on. Mary’s work history included Bank of Millard, Richman Gordman, Safeway, HyVee, Bag n Save, and Sam’s Club. One of her claims to fame was to introduce the “Cheese Island” to the Safeway store on 120th and Center back in the late 70s.The “Cheese Island” had a variety of cheeses from around the world, and was unique to chain grocery stores at the time.She later began the same concept in the HyVee stores as they expanded into Omaha in the early 80s. Mary loved to fish, gaining this passion from her father from an early age.She spent many days fishing at Pleasure Lakes in Valley Nebraska, and Beaver Lake.She also enjoyed spending time with her family, then taking care of her parents as they got older.Mary was devoted to her boys as well. She turned down several higher-paying jobs through her career as they all involved travel which would take away time from her family. Mary always loved gardening, and always had a variety of potted plants and flowers covering her patio.You always know which apartment was Mary’s as you drove by. Mary loved cats.Her most favorite of all time was a fluffy siamese named Cole Younger.That name came from the “outlaw” Cole Younger, to whom Mary was related through her mother’s, Armeade Younger, side of the family.Cole Younger (the cat) was with her for 18 years, and it was a devastating loss for her.Cole will be with her in eternity. She was preceded in death by parents George & Armeade Bodenmiller; Sisters Janie Bodenmiller and Linda Medlock; Brother John Bodenmiller Mary is survived by her Sons: Scott (Joanie) Dergan, Doug (Lynette) Dergan; Grandchildren: Andrew (Tessa), Shelby, Bailey, McKenna, Zach; Sister Norma O’Connor; Many other relatives and friends.
