Mary K Pleskac

July 11, 1958 — August 29, 2024

Mary (Mare) Kaye (Nelson) Pleskac passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024, surrounded by family, after a brave battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Up until the end Mary maintained her sense of humor and intense love for her family, leaving a void her family cannot fill. Mary Kaye was born on July 11, 1958 to Nels and Mary Kaye Nelson. She was the fourth of five children. She graduated from Northwest High School in 1976. Mary was a devoted wife to Joe, her husband of 33 years, married on November 16, 1990. Together they raised five boys: Joe III, Jeremy, Chris, Chad, and Adam. Mary worked several years in the healthcare industry as a pharmacy technician and purchaser before eventually retiring due to Parkinson’s relentless grip.

Mary’s pride and joy was her family. She was the happiest and most content in a room full of chaos, surrounded by all of them. Mary embodied the best qualities: unconditional love, acceptance, strength, and determination. She never ended a phone call without an “I love you”, always told her boys and grandkids how proud she was of them, and wasn’t afraid to give a good lecture if you deserved one. Mary could often be found at one of her grandkids sporting events, being their biggest cheerleader, sometimes crying with pride. To say Mary loved intensely and endlessly is an understatement. She was often the go-to for a listening ear and sound advice. She gave the best hugs. Mary will be greatly missed. We are so grateful and will cherish her always for her unconditional love and unwavering support. She will live on in our hearts and memories forever.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Mary Kaye, sister in law Helen Nelson, nephew Tony Nelson, daughter in law Jackie Pleskac, and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by Joe, her husband of 33 years; one sister, Lu (Doug) Goldsberry, three brothers, Ron (Barb) Nelson, Pat (Donna) Nelson, and Rick Nelson; her children, Jodee Pleskac Leader, Joe III (Sarah) Pleskac, Jeremy (Kellie) Pleskac, Chris Salvatore, Chad Salvatore, and Adam (Jessica) Salvatore; 14 grandchildren, Justin Swanger, Mikaila Poisel, Jacob Pleskac, Ty Pleskac, Grant Pleskac, Garrett Pleskac, Grayden Pleskac, Owen Salvatore, Leo Salvatore, Lilianna Salvatore, Vinnie Salvatore, Bennett Salvatore, Hayden Salvatore, and Braylee Salvatore; and many nieces and nephews.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be; So he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come with Me.” With tearful eyes we watched you suffer and saw you fade away. Although he loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.
