It was during that time that Bernadine was given the nickname "Beanie", a name that stuck with her for the rest of her life.Beanie loved to tell stories of her and Patsy and their adventures growing up and fondly spoke of the friendly folks who understood the concept of "it takes a village" to raise a child. She and Patsy were very close throughout their lives. When Beanie was 12 years old, her mother met and married Dale McCumber. There was a time where they moved to Buffalo, New York, but did not stay long. They made their way back to Nebraska and had two more children, Dennis and Karen. Beanie was a stay-at-home mom until the youngest child entered school. She moved on to a new adventure in her life when she went to work for Liberty Mutual and she quickly moved into a job that she was very good at and that she loved. After she retired from Liberty Mutual, she filled her new-found free time by devoting herself to the parish works in the St. Pius the X community.
