Mary L. Dunn Nanfito, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, in Omaha, NE at the age of 76.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22 at Braman Mortuary, 6505 S. 144th St., Omaha, NE. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23 at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 16701 S. Street, Omaha, NE. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, 7602 Military Ave., Omaha, NE.
Mary was born on January 30, 1947, to Woodson and Edna Dunn in Irvington, NE. Growing up Mary had six brothers and three sisters and grew up on a farm. Mary attended Irvington School from Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Mary attended Benson High School where she graduated from in 1965 and was part of the National Honors Society. Mary was married on May 31, 1969, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Mary raised three children, Joe, Kristi, and Mike.
Mary had a strong faith in God. Mary worked as a customer service representative for many years and was proud to permit and route trucks across the United States. Mary was a hard worker, supported her children as they grew up, and instilled a strong work ethic in them. She loved her grandchildren and one of her greatest passions was attending their activities and sports. She would often tell stories about her grandchildren. Mary loved watching Hallmark movies and country music television. Her favorite singer was Reba McEntire. Mary will be dearly missed and always remembered. Our family is grateful to know that Mary is finally at peace and in God’s hands.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Woodson Warren and Edna Elnora (Drechsel) Dunn; brothers, Robert Dunn (Lila), Ronald Dunn (Jolene), Jay Dunn (Jeanine), Bill Dunn, George Dunn; sisters, Agnes Sutcliffe, Patty Shalberg.
Survived by children, Joe Nanfito (Lori), Kristi Cook (Alan Hauschild), Mike Nanfito (Miranda); grandchildren, Blake Cook, Andrew Nanfito, Lauren Cook, Matthew Nanfito, Zach Nanfito, Payton Cook, Ella Cook, Marshall Nanfito, Miles Nanfito; brother, Johnnie Dunn (Jayne); sister, Nora Carlson (Jim); brothers-in-law, Ron Sutcliffe, Bob Shalberg; sisters-in-law, Julie Dunn, Dixie Dunn; other family members and friends.
