With reverence and love, we announce the passing of Mary Ann Moseke, 88, on February 23, 2024, in Omaha, NE. Born on Christmas Day in 1935 in Cedar Rapids, NE, to Joseph and Marie (Yilk) Moseke, she was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who exuded kindness throughout her life. Her laughter was a symphony, her smile a solace to the weary, and her heart a boundless ocean of warmth. In each encounter, especially those laced with the delightful mischief she conjured with her best friend Patsy, she crafted moments of pure joy.
Fond memories of Mary will be carried forward by her daughters Rebecca Ryan, with husband Tony and their sons Liam and Ciaran, as well as Lisa Sammons and her sons Christopher, with wife Jess, and Sean. Mary Ann has been called to join her ancestors in eternal peace, including her great-granddaughter Freya Lemon Sammons who graced our lives for such a short time, her brother Jerry Moseke, brothers-in-law Skip Mudge and Larry Frost, multiple cousins including Larry Yilk and Al Moseke and her parents, Joseph and Marie (Yilk) Moseke.
In her professional life, Mary had a long and fulfilling career. She worked at Mutual of Omaha from April 1956 to May 1992, followed by positions at the City of Omaha from October 1992 to June 2004, and MECA from June 2004 to March 2020, serving each organization with exceptional commitment and integrity. Her passion for community service shone brightly as she volunteered as an usher at multiple establishments in Omaha, including but not limited to the Orpheum Theater, CHI Arena, TD Ameritrade Park (College World Series), Omaha Community Playhouse, and others. Her tenure as Head Usher for many years was not merely a role but an enactment of her love for the arts and the shared human experience.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life in Mary Ann's honor this summer, with details to be provided at a later time. In recognition of Mary Ann's commitment to her community and the well-being of both its elders, the caretakers of our history as well as the animals that travel on life’s journey alongside of us, the family requests that in lieu of floral tributes, charitable donations be made to the Bellevue Senior Center (bellevueseniorcitizencenter.com - (402) 293-3041) or The Marine Mammal Center (415) 289-7335 - marinemammalcenter.org), both organizations dear to Mary's heart.
Let us gather in solemn remembrance of the noble life led by Mary Ann Moseke. Her spirit of generosity, kindness, and unwavering love and laughter will continue to live within all who knew her.
