Marty Tim Swanson

December 11, 1948 — January 7, 2022

SWANSON, Marty T. 12/11/1948 – 1/7/2022 Marty Swanson was born December 11, 1948 in Omaha, NE to Albert “Bud” and Betty (Cooley) Swanson. He graduated from Omaha South High School in 1967, and proceeded to go to Bellevue University. He was drafted to Vietnam, where he served in the Army for two years before being injured and honorably discharged. He went on to graduate with a Business Degree and worked in accounting until he retired. Marty had a strong passion for music, singing in the musical group The Ambassadors in high school, along with other musicals, and playing the piano. He was an Eagle Scout, and attended the National Scout Jamboree in Valley Forge, PA, in 1964. He also loved sports, including swimming, bowling, baseball and basketball (his favorite). One of his greatest passions was coaching, which he did for about half of his life. He also loved his animals, sweet tea, Coca-Cola, and his track suits. Marty met the love of his life Linda (Alt), got married in 1980, and had two kids, Mark and Kacey. As much as he loved his children, nothing could compare to the adoration he had for his grandkids, Lucian (5) and Remi (18-months). When Lucian was born, he loved that he was retired so he could stay home and watch him. Marty was that person who could sit and talk to anyone and everyone, and he did! He loved people, and touched a countless number of lives. He is preceded in death by both parents. He is survived by his wife Linda, both children Mark and Kacey (Jordan) Kent, grandchildren Lucian and Remi; sister Marsha (James “Jim”) Stewart, nieces Jill, Kerry (Nate)and their children (Jake, Sam, Drew), and nephew Brian; and numerous friends and family members.
