Martin "Marty" Johnson

JOHNSON, Martin "Marty" 1951 to 2021 Marty was born March 28, 1951 in Oklahoma City, OK, to parents Paul and Margaret (Dow) Johnson. He was an alumnus of Central High School in Omaha, NE, attended college at University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and received a law degree from Arizona State University. He worked at Union Pacific Railroad for 26 years as a real estate attorney. Marty was married to Connie (Schmidt) Johnson for 39 years, with whom he raised three boys: Brad, Craig, and Bryan. Marty was known for his friendliness, sense of humor, intelligence and humbleness. There was nothing more important to Marty than spending time with his family and friends. He loved taking family vacations to Colorado for activities such as skiing, hiking Maroon Bells, or taking fall color drives through the changing Aspen trees. Some of his favorite memories were taking his boys on camping trips with the Boy Scouts and swimming at South Pacific pool. He always made time to attend his kid’s sporting and school events. Marty enjoyed listening to music, sitting on the deck watching passing boats at Ginger Cove, and many of the small things in life. He loved spending time with his grandchildren: Coen, Cora, Elaina, and Madelyn. Upon retirement from Union Pacific Railroad, Marty and Connie moved to Colorado Springs, CO. They spent their time taking hikes in Piñon Valley Park, camping in their RV near the Sangre De Cristo mountains, and spending evenings watching the sunset over Pikes Peak. It was unfortunate that Marty was diagnosed with ALS -- a disease he battled courageously for the past three years. We are very thankful for all the support that was provided to Marty during this time and we are grateful for the improvements it made to his quality of life. We all have a lot of memories of Marty, and his legacy is instilled in all our hearts for eternity. Preceded in death by parents, Paul and Margaret (Dow) Johnson; brother, Steve. Survived by: wife, Connie Johnson; sons, Brad Johnson (Michelle), Craig Johnson (Erin), Bryan Johnson (Chelsea); grandchildren, Cora, Coen, Elaina, Madelyn; sister, Sandra Lozier (George); other family members and friends.
