Marlene Rae Wahl was born on July 22, 1943 to Raymond and Anabelle (Maxwell) Petersen in Harlan, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm near Jacksonville, Iowa. It was here that she
started developing her love of gardening. She attended country school near Jacksonville and later graduated from Harlan High School with the class of 1961. She attended the University of
Northern Iowa for two years before moving to Nebraska. She quickly became a Husker fan but always followed the Panthers of Northern Iowa, as well as the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL.
She also followed NASCAR. Marlene married Clifford Engel Wahl on December 19, 1964. Of this union three boys were born, Brian, Loren and Troy. Later Marlene and Cliff divorced and Marlene worked full time while raising her three boys. She worked for several small companies running payrolls with many extra hours during tax season.
Marlene passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Legato Living at Legacy at the age of 80 years and 22 days.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Lamond Petersen and Ronald Petersen. She is survived by her sister, Beverly Cox; her children Brian (Sandy) Wahl, Loren
(Amy) Wahl and Troy (Killeen) Wahl; her grandchildren Devin Townsend, Tanner Wahl, Alexis Wahl, Caleb Wahl and Macey Wahl as well as three Great Grandchildren.
Celebration of Marlene's Life: Saturday, August 19 at 11 am, with visitation from 10-11 am, at Braman Mortuary 72nd St. Chapel
