Mariam Graves Clough, age 90, passed away August 30, 2021 in Omaha, NE., and claimed the promise of the resurrection. Born in Lancaster, MO., October 22, 1930 to Hardin and Anna Graves, Mariam spent her early years on the family farm. After graduating from high school, Mariam attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University) graduating in 1948 with a degree in elementary education. She then began her teaching career in Quincy, IL. On December 23, 1951, Mariam married William (Bill) Clough of Kirkville, MO. They settled in the St. Louis, MO. Area and had 3 sons of whom she and Bill were very proud.While raising her family she continued her teaching career in St. Louis, Seattle and Kansas City as Bill progressed in his career. Mariam was an avid bridge player who participated in Masters tournaments and earned points. She also loved golf, bowling, traveling the world and spending time with her 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She and Bill were active members of the Presbyterian church in the many places they lived. Upon retirement, they moved to Lake Wales, FL., where they were members of the First Presbyterian Church. Mariam was also a member of the Lake Wales chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mariam is preceded in death by Bill, her husband of 49 years, and siblings Perry Graves and Mary Ann (Graves) Shickich. She is survived by her brother David Graves and by her sons Mark, Matt, and Jim and their families. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
