Margaret “Jeannine” (Marshall) Smyth, 86 of Millard, Nebraska passed away in the early morning hours of Friday October 12, 2018 at Hillcrest Health & Rehabilitation Center in Bellevue, NE. Jeannine was born Tuesday, January 19, 1932 in Fullerton, NE to Kenneth “Roy” and Margaret “Naomi” (Noonan) Marshall.She grew up in Spalding, NE and graduated from Spalding High School in 1950.Jeannine married Thomas John Smyth June 2, 1956.To this union two children were born, Alan Thomas in 1963 and Jeannine Marie in 1966. Tom and Jeannine resided in Omaha, NE. Tom was an ironworker and Jeannine serviced Durkee spices in Hinky Dinky stores until the birth of their first child when she became a stay-at-home Mom.When the kids were older she started a successful career selling Tupperware.Jeannine earned a number of awards for her accomplishments throughout the 25+ years of her Tupperware business.However, she often said that the best job she ever had was watching her grandchildren, Sarah & Thomas. After Tom’s death in 1997, Jeannine continued to live in her home until July 2017 when she suffered a stroke and was moved to Hillcrest Health & Rehab in Bellevue for rehab and then long-term care.She was known by many of the staff as she and Jeannie would make pins, Easter baskets, etc. for her to pass out to the staff.She enjoyed making them feel special as she appreciated all they did for her. Prior to her stroke, Jeanine loved to do crafts and crochet.In fact, she crocheted and donated over 1,500 chemo caps to the cancer patients at the Methodist Cancer Center.She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends, and traveling to Scotia, NE to visit her siblings and their families. Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Naomi (Noonan) Marshall, husband Thomas, and brother Roy “Mike” Marshall.She is survived by her son Alan Smyth (Laurie) of Pawnee City, NE.; daughter Jeannie Hannan (Kelley) of Council Bluffs, IA; grandchildren Chad Hannan (Lyndsey), Morgan Hannan, Sarah Smyth & Thomas Smyth; four great-grandchildren; sister Darlene Hill (Ray); brother Don Marshall; sister-in-law Dorothy Marshall; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. VISITATION: Monday, October 15, 2018 from 6-8:00 PM at Braman Mortuary (72nd St. Chapel) CELEBRATION OF JEANNINE’S LIFE:Tuesday, October, 16, 2018 at 10:00AM at Braman Mortuary (72nd St. Chapel) Interment: Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family will be used in Jeannine’s name at a later time.
