Cherished younger sister of Robert, Richard, and Catherine. Maggie attended Benson High School and then transferred to Northwest High. She served as the Senior Class Treasurer. She was on the Student Council, the pep squad, and the Principal’s Advisory Committee. She was the Editor of the yearbook . She was also a member of the National Honor Society. After graduation from high school in 1973, Maggie went onto Hastings College where she was once again quite active serving on the Public Relations Council, the Union Activities Board, and the Yearbook staff. She was a member of Chi Omega Psi sorority and was a member of the Fillies cheer squad. Her college years were cut short when her kidneys failed while at Hastings. After two unsuccessful kidney transplants, Maggie courageously met the challenges of life on dialysis and actively managed her health routine and diet. Maggie graduated from UNO in 1982 with a BA in General Studies, with an emphasis in Journalism. When Maggie was the wife of a Marine, she lived and worked in various parts of the country. Maggie volunteered her time in the community’s church. She also served as a volunteer reader for Radio Talking Books providing “eyes” for those who were visually impaired. She returned to Omaha in 1991 and helped care for her mother until Betty’s death just last year. Memories of Maggie’s courage, faith, and optimism are part of her legacy left for us.
