MATTHEWS III, Lyle B. age 67 years of Omaha, passed away December 29, 2014. Born March 16, 1947 to Lyle B. Matthews, Jr. & Nadine Wildberger Matthews in Quantico, VA. Lyle graduated from Frankfurt American High School in Frankfurt, Germany in 1965 and graduated Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH in 1969. Later he entered the USAF and retired as Lieutenant Colonel on September 30, 1992. His proudest achievement was working on the National Aerospace Plane. While serving in the military he earned his Master’s Degree from California State College Stanislaus. After retiring from the Air Force, Lyle worked for a time at the Omaha Public Schools. In 1998 he went to work at Cargill Inc. in Blair, NE and retired as a Technical Trainer in 2012. Lyle loved fishing, cooking, ocean vacations and was an accomplished avid golfer. He attended St. Paul UMC in Omaha. Preceded in death by his parents, Lyle B. & Nadine Matthews; brother, Brian Matthews; step-daughter, Shannon Steinbach; step-granddaughter, Hope Megan Steinbach. Survived by his wife Crystal Matthews; daughters, Sarah (Mark) Leraas, Allison Matthews; step-daughter, Molly (Brian) Schutte; sister, Karen Matthews; grandchildren, Torrell & Kianna Booker, Katie Steinbach, Brendan & Abby Schutte; niece, Miranda Matthews.
