LuAnn Ruth Behrens (66) of Omaha, passed away on May 5th, 2023 after a difficult battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones and prayers near and far, passing peacefully at 9:35 that evening.
LuAnn was born on November 27th, 1956 in Norfolk, NE to Howard and Shirley Strong. Her family relocated to Lincoln, NE where she graduated from East High School. She married her best friend, Bing Behrens on July 2nd, 1976. They welcomed their son, Joel in 1980 and daughter, Kyle in 1982. After being a wonderful stay at home mom and homemaker, she later attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, earning her degree in accounting by 1998. She worked for Mutual of Omaha for 11 years before she and her husband began running their small business in 2008; The Wild Bird Habitat Store of Omaha. LuAnn and Bing were thankful to spend 15 years working together at the store, where they met a community of friends and fellow nature enthusiasts.
She was preceded in death by her son, Joel Behrens, her father, Howard Strong, mother, Shirley Strong, mother-in-law, Harriet Behrens-Grupy, and sister-in-law, Connie Becker.
She is survived by her husband, Bing Behrens, daughter, Kyle Peetz [David Peetz], sisters, Cindy Carter [Bill Carter, their children Grant and Mallory], Susan Strong [Scott Henninger, their children Samantha and Lindsay], Amy Rice [Kenny Rice, their children Liza and Connor], sisters-in-law, Becky Wright [Jeri Wright, their children Mandy and Casey], Peggy Marr [Don Marr, their children Kimm and Cari], and brother-in-law, Bill Becker [children Nikki and Tracy], and many other dear family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are suggested.
