THOMAS, Loie T. 3/25/1925 ~ 1/24/2016 Age 90 of Omaha Loie Tufty Thomas lived her life with grace and dignity right to her passing on January 24, 2016, at the age of 90.Loie was one of two daughters of Norman H. andLoie Elizabeth (Holden) Tufty.Loie was born on March 25, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.Loie was the fourth generation in her family history to carry the Loie name. Loie attended the University of Minnesota, graduated with a degree in Childhood Education, and then worked as a teacher. She met and married her life partner, T. Robert (Bob) Thomas in Minneapolis. Together they moved around the United States fulfilling several different assignments and opportunities provided by John Deere Company.They lived in Fargo, North Dakota; Edina, Minnesota; Omaha, Nebraska; Syracuse, New York; and finally settled in Moline, Illinois in 1968.Bob predeceased her in March, 2006. Loie remained in Moline until 2013 when she relocated to Omaha to be closer to her son Norman, and his family. Loie was involved in many different civic activities and organizations, including PEO, the Quad Cities Art & History Museum, and many others.Her favorite social activity was always a good hand of bridge, playing with many friends and acquaintances.The Thomas home was always a welcome place filled with hospitality. Loie is survived by her three children, T. Norman (Connie) Thomas of Omaha, Nebraska; Gary (Laura) Thomas of Homer, Alaska; and Martha (William) Twarkins of Lodi, New York; grandchildren Mica Thomas, Christopher (Perla) Thomas, Stephen (April) Twarkins, Vanessa Twarkins, Mariah (Adam) Greenwald, Jennifer (Ryan) Walters, and ten great-grandchildren. The family will celebrate Loie’s life at a private ceremony on her birthday, March 25th, as her remains will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Bob, in Minneapolis.Arrangements are under the care of Braman Mortuary in Omaha.Remembrances may be made to the Bethany Home Memorial Fund, 1830 6th AvenueMoline, Illinois 61265. The family will celebrate Loie’s life at a private ceremony on her birthday, March 25th, as her remains will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Bob, in Minneapolis.
