Leslie was born to Willa K. Harris and Robert Popps, Jr. in Omaha, NE on May 29, 1946. Her childhood with her older sister Karen and younger sister Pamela was filled with trials and tribulation but also joyous times. After graduating from Central High School in 1964, she soon headed to California. In May 1974, she obtained her degree in Accounting from California State University, Los Angeles. During the years to follow she also lived in Colorado and Minnesota perfecting her skills in Accounting by working for Mobil Oil Corp, the Internal Revenue Service, and Mission Viejo Company. She also had a second love, which is being a seamstress. In 1988, she was very excited about completed her Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. In 1991, Leslie returned to Omaha to be closer to her mother, Willa. Leslie and her mother lived together until her mother’s passing in 2013. For the last ten plus years, she has worked for H&R Block as an enrolled agent. Leslie enjoyed and prided herself in knowing every aspect of tax preparation and helping her clients. Leslie remained close to her sister Pamela and over the years has enjoyed an active and busy life by attending life events of her nieces (Krystal, Karmyn, and Kellie): nephew (Warren, Jr.); great-nieces (Amber and Khourtnye); and great-grand niece and nephew (Ayden and Ava). Leslie passed away December 10, 2019 peacefully at home. She is preceded in death by her mother and father – Willa K. and Robert Popps, Jr. She is survived by her sisters Karen J. Downs of Los Angeles, California and Pamela J. Amos of Omaha, Nebraska. Brother-in-law Warren Amos, Sr.; Nieces – Krystal L. Houston and Karmyn L. Downs of Los Angeles, California; Kellie L. and (Husband) Chaplain (Capt.) Vincent L. Hardy of Grovetown, Georgia; Nephew – Warren Amos, Jr and (Wife) Sheila of Tampa, Florida; Great-niece – Amber D. and (Husband) Roy Duncan of Houston, Texas and Khourtnye I. Hardy of Grovetown, Georgia; and Great-grand niece and nephew – Ayden and Ava Duncan of Houston, Texas; and a host of family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Braman Mortuary 72nd St. Chapel on Thursday, December 19, at 2:00 p.m. Private family inurnment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
