Lerria L. (Billie) Dyches-Desterhouse-Gepford 7/5/1933-2/11/2022 On a Wednesday in July, a little baby girl was born to Heyward Dyches and Wife Claudia Bell Howard Dyches in Columbia, South Carolina, where she grew up. She met Robert Desterhouse, a soldier stationed at Fort Jackson, there in Columbia. They married and had a baby boy Robert Jr. After getting out of the US Army they moved to Omaha, NE and added two more children, Les and Judee to complete their family. Unfortunately, their marriage did not last. She married Charles Gepford and between the two of them, they shared six children. Chuck and Billie resided in Omaha. Billie worked as a dietician in the public school system and also in nursing homes. She also did daycare for many years. She moved to Valley, NE in 2000 where she lived for almost eighteen years. She suffered from early stages of dementia and had a stroke in late 2017 which unfortunately landed her to live out her life in a nursing home where Billie passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 in Bellevue, NE. Billie lived to be 88 years, 7 months, and 6 days old. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Frank, Maggie, Mae, and Elizabeth; her husband Charles; two sons Robert Desterhouse, Jr. and Les Desterhouse; son-in-law Jerry Smith. Billie is survived by daughter Judee Desterhouse-Smith; daughter-in-law Cheryl Desterhouse; and seven grandsons, Chad Smith, Tad Smith, Brad Smith, Dan Desterhouse, all of Nebraska; Robert Desterhouse III, Ross Desterhouse, and Richard Desterhouse, all of Colorado; eight great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew all from South Carolina, Debbie, Brenda, Ricky, and Melissa. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Thurs. Feb. 17, 2022 at 11:00AM at Braman Mortuary (72nd St. Chapel) VISITATION: Weds. Feb. 16, 2022 from 5-7:00PM at the mortuary. Our Dear Lord said it was time to come home. And she DID. Rest in peace Momma, Grandma, and Great-Grandma. We will all love and miss you dearly. Forever in our hearts!
