LUCAS, LeRoy L. 1/1/1936 – 3/2/2022 LeRoy was born in January 1st 1936 to Dialthia (Hume) and Louis Lucas. When he was 2 years old his mother passed away. His father remarried 2 years later to Viola Knutzen. He had 2 sisters from that marriage, Loretta and Linda. He attended Central High School in Omaha, NE and was active in baseball and Hockey. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy. He was stationed in Portsmouth, Virginia where he met and married Charlotte Givens. He has 4 daughters from that marriage, Brenda, Carolyn, Jo Anne and Cindy. They later divorced and he married Patricia Zdan. He has 2 children from that marriage Stephanie and Frank. He has many grandchildren and great grandchildren which gave him a lot of enjoyment. His career after the Navy began with Burlington Northern Railroad. He then moved to Amtrak until he retired from the railroad in 2004. He was an Engineer or as they say a "Hoghead". As well as being an Engineer for the railroad he was the Vice President for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He also served as a Union Representitive in Washington working with many of the Whitehouse politicians. After retiring from the railroad he began work as a Security guard and was assigned to the OPPD power plant and worked until late 2020. LeRoy valued education and hard work and would encourage his family to achieve. He put himself through business school and took many law classes. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #6 in Plattsmoth, NE for 39 years and a member of York Right Bodies of Plattsmouth for several years as well. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother and grandpa. He was a good man with a big heart and will be so greatly missed! Goodbye is not forever, only for a little while! He was preceded in death by daughter Carolyn Sullivan; LeRoy is survived by his wife Patricia Lucas; children: Brenda Kuhl, JoAnne Smith, Cindy (Jeff) Patterson, Stephanie(Tom) Dasher, Frank (Brenda) Lucas; sisters: Loretta (Tom) Dixon, Linda (Bill) Haynes; many grandchildren & great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 2 - 4:00pm, with a Masonic Service at 4:00pm, all at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel) GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Monday, March 7, 2022 at 10:00am at Omaha National Cemetery Braman Mortuary - Southwest Chapel 6505 S. 144 St. Omaha, NE68137 402-895-3400
