COOPER, Lealus C. of Omaha/Norfolk, NE Lealus “Lea” Cooper died peacefully at the age of 86, February 15th, 2015 in Omaha, Nebraska. Lea is survived by his loving wife, Karen “Kay,” children, Marsha (Mark) Wright, and Kerry Cooper, also grandchildren Mardra (Quinn) Sikora, Tim (Lisa) Wright and Justin Wright, three great-grandchildren, and sister Betty “Jo” Graham. Preceded in death by parents Elton and Cleo Cooper, daughter Deborah Thomason, brothers Kenneth and John Cooper and sister, Carolyn Welcher. Lea was also a beloved uncle and friend to many. Lea was born September 17, 1928 and accepted Christ at the Conahatta Baptist Church when he was ten years old. Lea served in the US Army for two years then went on to graduate from Clarke Memorial College. Lea and Kay married on November 17, 1956. He worked in the steel industry for 40 years, including 25 years for Nucor in Norfolk, Nebraska where a building is dedicated in his name. Outside of work he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and serving as a trustee and usher with the church. A memorial service will be held on February 19th at First Baptist Church in Norfolk, NE at 1:00 PM. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lea’s life. Inurnment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk, NE with military honors. In lieu of flowers please consider memorials to the First Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Brookstone Village in Omaha for their caring work in his final years. Memorial Service, Thursday, 1:00PM at First Baptist Church,(404 W. Benjamin Avenue, Norfolk, NE 68701) Inurnment to follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery with military honors.
