Lawrence George Holtzman, a beloved father, husband and grandfather, died at Methodist Hospital at the age of 83. Larry, who is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol, his son Robert and his wife, Shannon and their children, Elizabeth, Henry and Eleanor, and his daughter Jennifer and her husband Akile and children Ezekiel and Elika. Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Nathan and Mary Holtzman, Larry moved to the Midwest when he concluded his time in the US Army at Fort Riley, Kansas.
Larry was a bright spirit, who loved to tell stories and make people smile. He worked for 25 years, before retirement, at First National Bank of Omaha. He also spent much of the 1990’s and early 2000s officiating youth volleyball and basketball in the Omaha area, bringing his strong sense of principles to the courts.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Tuesday, April 8 at 12:30 p.m. at Omaha National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest.
