Swett (Knudsen), Laurie G.
February 20, 1952 ~ May 17, 2024

Laurie Gail (Knudsen) Swett was born in Omaha, NE on February 20, 1952, to Glen and Estel Knudsen.  She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on May 16, 2024.

Laurie grew up in the Hillside area of Omaha, graduating from Westside High School in 1970.  She welcomed her oldest son, Jason later that year.  On May 4, 1980, Laurie married her other half, Larry L Swett at a small ceremony in her parent’s basement.  Together, they navigated the good and great, challenging and funny, scary and downright amusing things that happen during a loving and committed 30-year marriage.  During this time, they welcomed three additional children, Rebecca, Brian, and Jessica.  Eventually gaining two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law and 10 grandchildren in their growing family.

Laurie brought her fiery wit that matched her amazing red hair, awesome laugh, and compassion with a hint of sarcasm into everything she did.  She loved spending time with family and friends.  She built relationships with her Spencer Street neighbors who became like family and led her to Jesus.  There was much love, support, over the fence baby passing, hide and seek, card playing, praying, and hot tub borrowing on Spencer Street.  She drove the neighborhood carpool and despite the snowy incident with an embankment, everyone arrived home safely.  As her young family got older, she became a paraeducator at Trinity Christian School.   She loved working there and always had a story to tell of the elementary hijinks.

Laurie is deeply missed by her surviving children, sons Jason (Sandra) Miller and Brian (Andrea) Swett and daughters Jessica (Jason) Tarumoto all of Omaha and Becky Swett of California; Grandchildren Charles, Hayley, Caleb, William, Nolan, Rylee, Landon, Taylor, Madelyn, and Carl all of Omaha; Sisters Glenna (Terry) Rahn and Andrea (John dec.) Steele, both of Omaha; loved nieces and nephews and many special friends.  Preceded in death by her parents, and husband.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Emmanuel Fellowship Church (8345 Crown Point Avenue), in Omaha, on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 11:00 am with a luncheon of La Casa Pizza (her favorite) following.
