March 18, 1949 — February 18, 2024

Larry John Clayton of Omaha, NE passed away on 02/18/2024, 11:30 p.m. from Diabetes complications and a fall at Florence Home. Larry was born 03/18/1949 in Omaha to Samuel Clayton and Matilda Eilers Clayton. Larry has two siblings, Samuel Clayton Jr. and Dianne Clayton Oder. Larry left the 10th grade to join the Military in 04/1969. He was an Army E-4 and fought for his country in Vietnam as a cargo handler until his return to the United States in 11/1970, and he stayed in the Reserves until 1975. While in Vietnam he was exposed to Agent Orange. Larry loved his country and the Bald Eagle National Bird.

Larry married Gayle Nun Clayton in 1978 and they had two boys together, Jeramie and Jeff Clayton. Larry was also the proud Uncle to Samantha Au, Wayne Williams and Jason Williams. Like his father Larry was a Custodian for Omaha Public Schools however he surpassed his dad’s tenure, retiring after 25 years. Larry loved the students and faculty at each of the several schools he worked at with North High School being the longest. Larry met Linda Edie Clayton 05/1988 and fell deeply in love with her. They married 12/31/1993, blending their family’s with Linda’s four children, Scott Moore, Jeffrey Moore, Deana Moore-Menard and Currie Moore-Duysen. They now have two Jeff’s.

Larry accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 2002 at Restored Life Church with another family being baptized with him by Pastor Charlie Hanks. Larry and Linda then found Victory Church, under Pastor Joe Laughlin, becoming members for the remainder of their lives. They have made many friends there with Gary and Etta Graves assisting them regularly. Larry was blessed and prayed regularly for and with his 13 Grandchildren and 28 Great-Grandchildren. Curissa Bernholtz and Mariah Bollig assisting him to do many daily living tasks. Many of them called him daily for advice and prayers. He was like a father to two of Deana’s children Jason Bollig Jr. and Tierah Holmgren, attending wrestling matches and father daughter dances regularly. Larry enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles with many friends and family members for several years, Larry Edie and Gary Black being the best.

Larry was preceded in death by both parents Samuel and Matilda Clayton, Brother Samuel Clayton Jr., ex-wife Gayle Nun Clayton, and nephews Jason and Tyler Williams.
Larry is survived by his wife Linda Clayton, Sister Dianne Oder, 6 Children, 13 Grandchildren and 28 Great-Grandchildren, Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, Niece and a plethora of relatives, friends, sisters and brothers in Christ.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Friday, March 8, 2024 at 10:30 AM, with a LUNCHEON to Follow at 11:30 AM, All at Victory Church (6330 North 56th St. Omaha, NE 68104)

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Friday, March 8, 2024 at 2:30 PM at the Omaha National Cemetery (14250 Schram Rd. Omaha, NE 68138)
