Lana Lee Halstead, 79, of Beaver Lake, NE. died Friday December 6, 2019. She was the beloved wife of 47 years of William (Butch) Halstead and loving daughter of George W. and Ruth Forsyth. Preceded in death by her parents, first husband William C. Bowman and son John. She is survived by her husband William (Butch) Halstead, sisters Jean Tiemens (Herb Comet) and Ruth A. Forsyth (James Denvir); son William C. Bowman, Jr. (Darlene) and their children Benjamin, Dakota, Chenoa, Aiyana, and Eli Bowman; son George Bowman andhis childrenTicie and Cecily Bowman. Nephew Herman Tiemens (Tang-Lin), and niece Sandra Tiemens (Aaron Turner), Collin Tiemens, and Maya Turner.Additionally, she is survived and remembered by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Lana was born on August 6, 1940 in Elrama, PA and grew up in Monongahela PA.After high school graduation she joined the United States Air Force where she met her first husband, William Carlton Bowman. While in the Air Force the family was stationed in Texas, England. Illinois, and Omaha. The family moved to LaVista, NE in 1964 where she raised her sons, Billy and George. William Carlton Bowman, Sr. passed away June 28, 1971. Lana married William E. (Butch) Halstead, Jr. on July 8, 1972. She volunteered for the Breast Cancer Foundation and she was on the LaVista City Council for years. The couple resided for many years in LaVista NE before building a log house and retiring at Beaver Lake, NE. Lana was a Nebraska Wildlife Rescue volunteer and took care of many baby squirrels. She was an excellent seamstress and baker. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
