Kristin E. Anderson, age 50, of Omaha, NE, passed away on Thursday August 15th, 2024. She was born on Friday, November 30th, 1973 to Robert and Kim Huerta.
Kristin is survived by her loving husband, Jeff Anderson, her children, Samantha (Stephen) Bloom and Matthew Anderson, parents Robert and Kim Huerta, and sister Kandice (Paul) Dion.
Kristin grew up in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1992 and went on to attend Nebraska Wesleyan University and obtain her BSN from Bryan College of Health Sciences in 1996. While at Nebraska Wesleyan, she met Jeff. They promptly married in 1994 and started their family with Samantha in 1994 and Matthew in 1999.
Kristin loved her family dearly and was so proud of her two children and husband. She provided endless support to her family, all while balancing her career as a pediatric nurse and taking care of her own wellbeing. She was the type of Supermom who attended every sporting event for her children, lent her shoulder to cry on when needed, and would show up at their door the second they called for help. She knew when to give advice, when to simply be there for support, and when to interject with a joke to bring some much-needed lightheartedness to a situation. She gave the best hugs.
Kristin made it a priority to maintain her health and teach her family to stay healthy as well. She could be found working out most days of the week, always challenging herself. She loved competing in local races with friends and family, from 5ks to half marathons, and obstacle courses to triathlons. She taught her family how to incorporate movement into their lives, and to prioritize taking care of their physical and mental wellbeing.
Kristin loved hosting a party. She took care to provide great food and fun entertainment. You could catch her playing board games at the table, running relay races in the backyard, or dancing up a storm on the Wii. She loved to have fun, and the fun followed her wherever she went.
When Kristin was diagnosed with a brain tumor in May of 2021, she faced it with strength, bravery, and optimism. She stayed true to herself, continuing to exercise and prioritizing fun and her family even more. Numerous trips were taken over the last few years, allowing her to revisit some of her favorites (Cape Cod, Disney, the Caribbean via a cruise ship), and explore new places (Catalina Island, Tulum, and New York). She loved traveling with her family - it brought her so much joy to explore new places and go on adventures.
Kristin will be greatly missed, and it will be an ongoing challenge to let go of the decades more we wish we could have spent with her. We are so grateful for her unconditional love, unwavering support, and the bounty of laughs we shared with her. May she live on in our memories and our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Kristin’s life will be held on Saturday, August 31st, 2024 at Faith Westwood United Methodist Church, 4814 Oaks Lane, Omaha, NE. Visitation will take place from 9:30-11:00 AM, followed by the Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests those who desire to remember Kristin to please contribute in her memory to the National Brain Tumor Society online at https://nbtsevents.braintumor.org/KristinAnderson.
