Kevin C. Ireland
August 25, 1962 – June 27, 2024
Kevin C. Ireland was found deceased at his residence on June 27, 2024 at age 61. His passing was totally unexpected. His death is believed to have occurred on June 24.
Kevin was born to Jackie and Edward Ireland August 25, 1962 in Omaha. Kevin was a 1980 graduate of Benson High School. Kevin majored in Business Administration at UNO and completed 6 semesters of coursework. He honed his technical skills by completing coursework at UC Berkeley.
Kevin lived and worked in San Francisco, CA for 22 years. Most of Kevin’s career milestones were achieved in California. His most noteworthy professional accomplishments included Client Services Team Leader (First Data Resources), Card Services Manager (Provident Central Credit Union), Curriculum Developer/Trainer (Pacific Bell) and (Sony Computer Entertainment of America), and Technical Writer (City of Oakland/Personnel Resource Management) and (Aldon Computer Group, Inc.)
Kevin loved living near the ocean and attending numerous concerts in California. Kevin returned to Omaha in 2009 to manage the care of his mother after his father had passed. Soon after returning to Omaha Kevin began working at PayPal. He celebrated his 14 year work anniversary in January but sadly was one of many laid off in February of this year.
The last 10 months of Kevin’s life were challenging. In August 2023 Kevin fell down a flight of 12 stairs and broke several ribs which required the surgical placement of 14 titanium plates to try and repair the damage. Kevin also broke his collar bone when he fell. Kevin suffered from chronic pain but never complained. In May 2024 Kevin also tore his rotator cuff when he worked to clean up water seepage in his basement after a heavy rain storm.
Kevin was a kind, caring and very generous soul. He was charitable to both human and animal welfare organizations. Kevin especially loved cats and lovingly raised his adopted cat Abigail from when she was the runt kitten of a litter to her death at one month shy of her 20th birthday.
Kevin loved music and attended many concerts and had an extensive CD collection. He was a devoted and passionate Celine Dion fan. He saw Celine in concert countless times and proudly saw Celine in her early days when she was the opening act at a concert in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents Edward and Jackie Ireland and his beloved cat Abigail. He is survived by his sisters Debbie and Heidi Ireland of Omaha, aunts, cousins, and long time friends, Frank Moppin of San Diego and Jane Schraeder of Omaha, and numerous other friends, many still living in California.
The family apologizes for the delay in death notification. Because Kevin worked remotely at home for the last several years no services were held. Kevin’s and Abigail’s ashes will be scattered together at a later date.
Kevin’s untimely passing has left a huge void in the hearts and lives of his sisters and friends. Anyone wishing to leave any memories of Kevin are encouraged and welcomed.
