HANSEN, Kenneth Eugene age 88 Omaha, Nebraska passed away on February 14, 2009. Born 11/28/1920, Dannebrog, NE. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee (Nielsen) Hansen, parents, Carl and Mildred Hansen, brother Howard Hansen & sister-in-law Edith Hansen and grand daughter Amy Luce. Survived by daughters, Linda Larsen, husband David of Bentley, Alberta, Canada, Debra VanSteenhoven, husband Tom of Conifer, Colorado, Patricia Luce, husband Jeff of Omaha, NE and Jane Filipi, husband Larry of Wilber, NE, 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, brother Ralph Hansen, wife Berniece , sisters Marjorie Sellers, husband Doug and Virginia Schulte, husband Dennis; nieces and nephews. Kenneth served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946 in the only WWII Blimp Squadron in the Straits of Gibraltar. He graduated from Kearney State Teacher’s College in 1946. From 1946 to 1947 he served as Principal of Dannebrog High School. From 1947 to 1948 he taught math and physics at Dana College in Blair, NE. Kenneth married Mary Lee Nielsen August 22, 1948. In 1949 he earned a masters degree from Colorado State College. In 1950 he established a business school in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Kenneth sold his business school in 1955 and bought shares in the Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln, NE and moved his family to Lincoln, where he and his family lived from 1955 to 1983. Ken decided to sell the school in 1963 and became an agent for Lutheran Mutual Life Insurance Company. He became Agency manager in 1968. From 1970-1981 he served on the Board of Regents of Dana College, Blair, NE. He retired in 1983, after an extremely successful career in the insurance business. Ken and Mary Lee retired to Loghill Village, Ridgway, Colorado in 1983 where they lived until Mary Lee passed away in 1997. Ken has been living in Omaha, NE since May 1997. Most recently at Parsons House on Eagle Run Drive. Visitation will be Friday 5-8PM at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel). A Memorial Service will be Monday, 10:30 AM, April 27, 2009 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog, NE. Inurnment will follow the service at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Dannebrog. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Assoc. or Columbia Hall in Dannebrog, NE.
