WHEELING, Kathyrn Elizabeth (McEwan) On Wednesday, March 31, 2021, Kathyrn Elizabeth Wheeling, a loving wife, mother of two, grandmother of five, and great grandmother, passed away at the age of 79. She was born on November 8, 1941. On February 17, 1962 she married John Wheeling and together they raised two children, Ragan and John. Kathyrn was a loving grandmother, most weekends you would see her packing up the 5th wheel for many of her grandchildren’s athletics or school events, a faithful Detroit Tiger Fan and a fierce euchre player. She will be most remembered for her sharp, quick wit and kind heart. When Kathyrn wasn’t spending time with her family, you could find her watching the Detroit Tigers, Nascar, or out tending to her raspberries in the garden. Kathyrn was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, John Wheeling, Sr.; her two children, Ragan Sommerhalder (Wheeling) and her husband Steven; John Wheeling, Jr. and his wife Sandy. Her five grandchildren, Mackenzie Sommerhalder, Marley Ward (Sommerhalder), Caleb Ward and her great granddaughter Harper Ward; Siobhan Wheeling, Mariah Brown (Sommerhalder) and Mitchell Brown, and Matthew Sommerhalder. She is survived by several siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and those who knew her.
