Karen was born in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Gladys and Ray Kleber. She was the first of three daughters and grew up in Bloomington. Her early joy of playing in the sand box had developed into a fondness for the beach. She played the piano in elementary school, the oboe in the marching band at John F. Kennedy High School and graduated in 1972. Karen and husband, Jerry met on a blind date and were married for 23 years. Jerry and Karen have two daughters, Ansley and Hayley. Karen has two sons, Neil and Nolan, from a previous marriage. Karen worked in various departments at Mutual of Omaha for the past 22 years where she established many good friendships. Her love of reading and music developed at a young age and remained favored activities. She shared her love of cross stitch and stitching weekends with her sister Betty and close friend Jodi. Many of her labor-of- love cross stitch projects grace the homes of family and friends and remain treasured gifts. In addition, Karen enjoyed sewing, outdoor walks, bowling, visiting with family and close friends, cats, dogs, and good wine. Family and friends enjoyed Karen’s culinary skills, especially her lasagna, pies, and cheesecake. When Karen wasn’t working, cooking, stitching or attending to family activities, she frequently had a paint brush in hand, redecorating her home with an eye for perfection. She was a devoted and dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was a source of love and wisdom. Her laugh was contagious and her eyes would often communicate everything she needed to say. Karen has touched many lives in her short time with us. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. MEMORIAL GATHERING Sunday, Oct 25, 2009 from 11:00AM ~ 2:00PM at Braman Mortuary (South West Chapel 6505 S. 144th ST. Omaha).
