Juanita Mutuc

August 21, 1923 — December 13, 2018

MUTUC, Juanita B. 8/21/1923 – 12/13/2018 Lola is synonymous with comfort. She never stopped. Whatever she was doing, be it sweeping up leaves, mending clothes, or cleaning up clutter to the point of making you think you lost something, it was for the benefit of someone other than herself. She never, ever said she was tired. That word was simply not in her vocabulary. When she did sit down, it was either because she was exasperated from either Nutmeg or Husker (our beloved black labs) getting in the way of her sweeping routine, or it was to watch basketball. Upon each of her visits to Andrew’s home for a family meal, or Janna’s home in NC, her same tenacity for tidiness also came along. “Vacations” to NC they were NOT, but merely an extension of her desire to make all of our homes comfortable. As persistent as she was in keeping a comfortable home for us to grow up and live in, she directed that same energy to cheer for her beloved Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, or the Duke Blue Devils. Though her life with us was simple, it was certainly very full. She derived such joy from spending time with her great-grandchildren and they from her. We are filled with gratitude knowing that she was a constant part of our lives, for our entire lives. She attended our numerous band concerts, dance recitals, graduations. She was there when we each wed the loves of our lives and was there to hold her great-grandchildren when they were born. The outpouring of messages we have received from friends who knew Lola have been so very comforting, and all so very similar in their message: “Lola gave love to all whom she encountered and knew, because she herself was so loved.” Many mention being able to count on her for a smile and a wave, or a Starburst, or a cough drop, and so on. Salamat po, sweet Lola, for all that you did for us. For those things which we could see, but mostly for those things which we could, and will always, feel in our hearts and souls. Survived by her Daughter Connie Cinnamon & husband Steve; Grandchildren: Janna Fonseca & husband José, Andrew Cinnamon & wife Jessica; Great Grandchildren: Pete and Lexi Fonseca; Many friends. Memorial Mass: Monday, Dec. 17, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church (16701 S. St.) BRAMAN MORTUARY (Southwest Chapel) 6505 S. 144th St. Omaha, NE 402-895-3400
