MITCHELL, Juanita F. 7/11/1956 - 11/5/2021 Juanita Frances Orduña – Mitchell Sunrise: 11 July 1956 Sunset: 5 November 2021 Juanita Frances Mitchell was born in Omaha, NE on July 11, 1956 to the late Rev. John and Doris Orduña. She gained her wings on November 5, 2021. She attended Howard Kennedy Elementary, Lewis and Clark Middle School, and graduated from Omaha Central High School in 1974. Juanita was a member of Central’s acapella choir, a varsity cheerleader, a member of Central’s first women’s track team, and state track and field champion in hurdles and sprints. Shortly after graduation she began working for First National Bank where she retired in 2001. She also worked for Osco, Louis Market, Family Dollar, and eventually TSA, Eppley Airfield from May 2015 to April 2021, where she gained the title of supervisor and retired for a second time. While a part of the TSA she received an award in excellence for her hard work and leadership. Juanita was a devoted Christian who helped build Friends of Christ Evangelical Church where she was a founding member, treasurer, and trustee. It is believed that she was more comfortable with a hammer and nails than pots and pans. Juanita loved to sing and was a long-time member of the church choir as well as director of the Children’s Christmas and Easter plays. She was highly organized and very skilled in many areas. Juanita is survived by mother Doris Orduña; former spouse Virgil Leon Mitchell Jr; children Janel Mitchell-Balthazar (Stephane) and Virgil Leon Mitchell III (Alejandra) of Texas; step Daughter Deametria Linell McTizic (Thomas); brothers John Henry Orduña Jr (Serena), Joseph Manuel Orduña (Valerie) of California, Vincent Anthony Orduña (Marcella), Paul Aurelio Orduña (Sharon); Sister Carmen Luisa Matthews (Ron) of Texas; Grandchildren Harmony Monét Crawford, Valencia Rae Mitchell, Virgil Leon Mitchell IV, Melody Halanah Balthazar, and Kyrin John Balthazar; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends. Long-time friends Tanya and Liston Rose of Missouri, Geneva Lopez, and Stephen Padilla. She leaves a memory on the heart of everyone she’s met.
