Joyce Black was born in Omaha, Nebraska on June 24th, 1924. She passed away in Omaha, Nebraska on October 18th, 2023.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, John Black Jr., her brother Don Mears and sister Lynn Thomas. Joyce was also preceded in death by her twin sister, June Irvin. Joyce and June enjoyed an especially close relationship throughout their lives.

Joyce is survived by her sons James and John, her grand kids Faith, Jennifer, Jason, Damon, Colin, Allison and Wesley. She is also survived by great grandchildren Jerome, Phylisity, Tiffany, Jason Jr., Alayna, Joshua, Jacey, Ellie and Walker.

Special care was provided to Joyce by Dale, Dan, Sharon and Barbara Irvin, along with the staff at Papillion Manor.

Joyce was a life long member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Joyce was member of the choir for many years. St. Paul was not only a spiritual place for Joyce, but also a place where she developed many life long friends.

Joyce worked at various places throughout her life. Her most significant positions were with Union Pacific Railroad and Douglas County Health Department.

Joyce had many interests. She enjoyed her rose garden, sewing and especially watching University of Nebraska sports.

Joyce was known for her outgoing personality, her positive outlook on life and her friendly nature with everybody she met. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her.

Memorials to St. Paul Methodist Church and the Humane Society.

Celebration of Joyce's Life: Monday, October 23 at 11 am, with visitation starting at 10 am, at Papillion Manor, 610 S Polk St, Papillion, NE
Interment: Evergreen Memorial Park
