Johnny Carr

In sacred Memory of the Johnny Carr. Johnny was born April 5, 1925 to the late Willie Mae Carr. He departed this life on August 20, 2010 at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home where he had lived for the past two years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dosha L Draine, sister, Esther Shelton and the mother of his children, Louise Carr. Johnny enlisted in the United States Navy on April 2, 1944 where he was stationed at Great Lakes, IL and Alameda, CA. While in the Navy he served as a truck driver. After his Honorable discharge from the Navy, Johnny travel around the U.S. working at various jobs. He came to Omaha to work at the packing houses in South Omaha. In 1952 he was hired by the City of Omaha to work at the Incinerator Plant. Johnny retired from the City in 1988, after 35 years of dedicated service, He leaves to mourn his passing four children Elder Steve Williams and wife, Mother Elsie Williams of Omaha, NE, Frank Carr of Fairmont, W.VA., Johnnie Mae Carr of Omaha, NE, and Robert Carr of Omaha,NE. Five grandchildren, John Mark Moore, Beverly (Derrick) Gregory, Leray Draine, Contessa Carr and Devante Carr. Great-Grandchild, Alisha Draine, U.S. Navy and Great-Great Grandchild, Ciera Lawson. Nieces, nephews, relatives and other special friends. Homegoing Celebration: Friday; 8/24/2010; 10:30at Braman Mortuary (72 St. Chapel). Visitation: Thursday after 4 PM, with family present 6-8:00 PM at Braman Mortuary (72 St. Chapel). Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Military Honors by VFW Post #2503.
