On Tuesday June 2nd, 2020 John Orlin Wittrig, devoted husband, father of two and grandfather passed away at the age of 67. John was born on November 15,1952 in Canton, South Dakota. John went to High School in Canton where he competed in track and field and football. He was educated at Dakota State University in Madison, SD earning a degree in 1974. He met his wife Helen in January 1976 and knew right away she was the one.They were married on July 31st of the same year. As a sign of his devotion he sold his beloved motorcycle to purchase her wedding ring. He raised two children, Christopher John Wittrig and Nicole Diane Nelson. John enjoyed the thrill of speed.He owned a Catalina convertible, a Fiat convertible, a speedboat on Lake Kampeska and eventually a scooter for the Shrine Patrol.It brings us joy to think he is behind the wheel in heaven again. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Helen Larson Wittrig, son Christopher and daughter-in-law Katie, daughter Nicole and son-in-law David Nelson, and grandchildren Emily & Connor. Celebration of John’s Life: Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 1:00pm, with visitation one hour prior to the service, all at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel).
