Proudly served his country in the United States Army – Vietnam Veteran – Purple Heart recipient.
Preceded in death by his parents Floyd & Doris; Sisters: Carolyn “Toodie” & Gayle; Nephews: Dave Schrack & Richard Odom Jr.; Great Nephew: Jamin Creek; Brother In-Laws: Ron Renner & Jim McFarland, many aunts, uncles & cousins.
Survived by his brother Dick Odom (Teresa); Sisters: Margo McFarland & Nancy Jo Haley (Tom); nieces and nephews Matt Kangior (Ann), Marlo Stone, Mary Jo Mittlieder (Dave), Kelli Renner (Donnie), Kim Schrack, Kris Boucher (Kevin), Keri Renner, Robyn Renner, Floyd Odom, Mike McFarland, Katie Skarvedt (Graig), Eric McFarland (Anne), John David Creek, Bethany Creek;
John was baptized at the Benson Church of Christ, attended Benson West and Western Hills Elementary, Lewis & Clark Junior High and graduated from Tech High School in 1965. John enlisted August 16, 1965 and served in Korea & Vietnam. When he returned home he worked at the family business – Floyds Heating & Air Conditioning, Paine Weber, UNMC and volunteered at the DAV. John was loved by 15 nieces & nephews, 31 great nieces and nephews and 7 great-great nieces & nephews. PLUS he LOVED his pets,,,, Hillary, Ralph, Sugar, Bingo & Jonathan to mention a few plus a Horse…. John loved Roy Rogers, Westerns, Gunsmoke, Bonanza and the Waltons.
Memorials to St. Croix Hospice and Nebraska Humane Society in honor of John.
Visitation, Monday, June 19th 5:00-7:00 p.m. Celebration of John’s Life: Tuesday, June 20th 11:30 a.m. Both at Braman Mortuary 72nd St. Chapel. Interment: Omaha National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with Full Military Honors. Luncheon at 2:30 p.m. at the DAV “Disabled American Veteran” in South Omaha 4515 “F” St.
