While John (Papa) left us too soon, the impact he made will continue to live on. John died peacefully at home surrounded by family.

John proudly served in the United States Marines from 1961-1964. John retired from US West in May of 1990 and moved to Texas to work for Erickson (Sony) until he retired again in 1998. John then spent his time traveling to places like Ireland, Australia, Scotland, New Zealand, England, Alaska, and many others. John adored playing golf with his brothers and visiting with his sisters and sister in-laws.

John is survived by his wife Donna of 57 years and 1 child, Cindy Gerdes (Scott Gerdes). 3 grandchildren Caylea Gerdes, Caitlin Lukowski (Joe Lukowski), and Carly Gerdes. 1 great grandchild Eliana Brown. 2 brothers Gerald Nathlich (Laura) and Charles Nathlich (Nancy). 1 sister Helen Farley. John was preceded in death by his daughter Marcy Nathlich, parents Gerald and Esther Nathlich. 2 sisters Elnora Dose and Mary Ann Benesch.

John’s family will host a Celebration of Life Gathering on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 11:30am-1:30 pm, with a full luncheon to follow at Braman Mortuary (Millard Chapel)

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 2:30 pm with full military honors at Omaha National Cemetery.

Memorials will be sent Disabled American Veterans.
