McDONOUGH, John Francis ll “Jack” 4/21/1930 – 07/15/2019 Jack was born in Cleveland, OH to John and Loretta McDonough on April 21, 1930.He was in the Navy from 1950 – 1954.During the Korean War, he served on the USS Cotton Destroyer as a Machinist Mate lll Class. Jack met the love of his life, Shirley Mae (Aspinwall) in 1956 on a blind-date set up by Jack’s sister Sally.Jack and Shirley married in 1957.They shared 62 wonderful years together enjoying each other and their family:Children: Diane Bang (David), Donna Stastny (Bob), John McDonough (Ronda), and Don McDonough.Grandchildren:Sarah Wellman (Matt), Matthew Bang, John Stastny, Michael Stastny, Riley McDonough, Kevin Bang, John Francis McDonough lV (known as Jack), Maeson McDonough and Delaynie McDonough.Great-grandchildren:Corey John Sprinkle, JosieMae Wellman, and Abigail Wellman. Jack worked on the New York Central, Penn Central, and Union Pacific Railroads.Jack had two great mottos with the Union Pacific that are still in place today:“Drive Safely” and “Turn on your headlights.”Jack enjoyed his railroad business car, (his home away from home), especially when Shirley was able to travel with him.He retired in 1988 as the Chief Mechanical Officer of the Union Pacific Railroad. In his retirement, he focused on family and friends, especially his nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was known for his terrific pool parties.He and Shirley had a special knack for entertaining and making everyone feel very welcome.Jack was the all-time best husband, father, buddy, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend that anyone could ever ask for.He will be Greatly missed. Jack was preceded in death by his son John F. McDonough lll, brother James McDonough and sister Sally Moughan.In addition to his wife, surviving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he is survived by his brother Gerald McDonough. Many other relatives and friends. Gathering of Family & Friends: Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 5-7:00pm, with a Rosary at 7:00pm, all at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel) Memorial Mass: Friday, July 19, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church (118 & Pacific).
