BRAZEAL, Sr., John G.
5/23/1961 - 7/24/2022
John Gerard Brazeal Sr. was born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 23, 1961 to Richard and Virginia (Koziol). John was one of nine; survived by brother Dan, brother Ed, sister Barb, sister Laurie, brother Gene and sister Kelly. As a young man John enjoyed being outdoors; riding bikes and playing sports. He loved music and continued to have eclectic taste throughout his life, enjoying everything from the Beatles to Patsy Cline to reggae. He graduated from Bryan High school in 1979 and worked many different jobs, eventually taking the position of machine operator and supervisor.
In 1995 John met Marie (Judevine) at his nephew's first birthday party and they bonded over a love of music. They married in 1998 and have enjoyed years of losing at keno together. He ardently and lovingly raised five children; Elise (Brazeal-Daganaar), Rosie (Ohl), John Jr., Ryan, and Marie. He was a supportive, encouraging and playful father who never missed an opportunity to express his love and pride for his family. He was a delightful and fun grandfather to seven grandchildren; Zia, Zeke, Rowyn, Kendra, Caiden, Tilly, and Ewan. He always made them giggle and usually gave them way too much ice cream.
In his adult years John enjoyed spending time at his cabin, working on cars, going fishing, watching Husker football, reading books (especially history), enjoying old Western movies and he was no stranger to a well deserved nap.
John was known by his family and friends to have a very special kind of quiet strength and kindness. He had an amazing work ethic but his most standout quality was his amazing heart and ability to make everyone around him feel loved and held.
John was preceded in death by his father Richard, mother Virginia, brothers Rick and Bill, and his beloved dog Prints.
