JoeyAnn Klare (Schachtschabel) Camara gained her angel wings on February 21, 2024 at the age of 36, in Omaha NE. She was born on June 8, 1987 in Omaha, to Julie and Peter Schachtschabel. Joey was baptized into Gods family as an infant. At the age of two her family moved to Wilber NE. Joey grew up riding bikes, climbing trees, playing with friends, cousins and her two younger siblings Jorden and Jessamy. She spent most of her summer days at the swimming pool. Her family loved gathering for celebrations; birthdays and holidays were spent with cousins, friends and plenty of good food. When Jim joined her family, she gained two more siblings, Tyler and Amanda. Together the family enjoyed camping adventures, boating and tubing, vacations and attending each other’s sporting events in the “Big Green” van. Joey attended First Evangelical Lutheran Church and was confirmed in her faith by Pastor James Helgren. As a teenager, Joey asked Jim, to teach her how to drive in his pickup because mom drove a stick shift and the van was…well it was big. She was very proud of her first car, a bright yellow Dodge Neon. Joey attended Wilber-Clatonia Public Schools, where she enjoyed band, choir and playing softball. In her junior year she decided to join the Army and stayed dedicated to that dream. Joey graduated with the WCHS class of 2005 and later that summer she enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves. She graduated basic training at Columbia SC and completed her AIT at Aberdeen MD. She then decided to join the Army full time and was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY. Joey was deployed to Iraq, working as a “wheeled vehicle mechanic” in a Military Police unit. The unit operated security checkpoints during “Operation Iraqi Freedom”. Joey was recruited to help with screening and searching the Iraqi women that passed their checkpoint. During this time she met David Camara. After their return to the states, they were married and blessed with a son, Ethan James born on June 9, 2011. After her honorable discharge, Joey moved back to Lincoln, NE. She attended college classes and worked in the healthcare field. She loved watching Ethan grow, spending holidays and birthdays with family and friends. A career in healthcare was a natural choice for Joey as she truly cared for other people no matter who they were, she always wanted to help them. A stranger was not a stranger for very long, as Joey was good at meeting and befriending everyone she met. Joey was kind and loving towards all of God’s creation, humans and animals alike. She especially loved dogs and horses, one of her joys was riding horses. And her greatest joy was Ethan.
She is survived by her son Ethan James Camara of Wilber, her parents Julie and James Nutsch of Fairbury. Siblings, Jorden Schachtschabel of Milford, Jessamy (Ryan) Gray of Lincoln, Tyler (Lindsey) Nutsch of Papillion, Amanda (Nick) Saunders of Commerce City, CO, former husband David Camara of Wilber, Aunts.
