Jennifer Lyn Baker, 50, of Omaha, NE unexpectedly passed away November 6, 2022.

She was born on August 14, 1972 in Scottsbluff, NE to Daniel and Vickie (Slater) Baker. Jen was a 1990 graduate of Grand Island High School. She received a B.S. in Criminal Justice & Sociology from the Univ. of Nebraska at Kearney (1994) and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the Univ. of Nebraska at Omaha (1998). From 1994-1998 she was an Asst. Family Teacher at Father Flanagan’s Boys Town where she taught teenage girls social, academic, and independent living skills. She continued with Boys Town until 2000 where she was an Asst. Site Coordinator at their National Resource & Training Center where she trained, consulted and evaluated programs in the Boys Town model across the country. She was a Federal Probation Officer for the US Courts from Apr 2001 until Dec 2017. A devout Christian, Jen’s passion was helping children. As a relatable, compassionate person, she touched many youths’ lives. She was a huge fan of the Huskers and KC Chiefs.

Jen was preceded in death by her mother Vickie (Slater), father Daniel, brother Michael Baker, nephew Isaiah Baker, aunt Linda Slater, uncle Thomas Baker, grandparents Wendell & Grace Slater, and Elmer & Beverly Baker. She is survived by sister Megan Baker of Grand Island, half-sisters Ashley (Deyby) Montiel of Sandy, OR, Racheal Hoskins of Weatherford, TX, step parent Trish Kipers of Weatherford, TX, uncles Jerry (Joann) Slater of Holdrege, Stephen (Becky) Baker of Elkhorn, aunt Peg (Jan) Slater of Independence, MO, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
