James E. Williams Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1944 to Willie Rouse and Unibell Williams, the oldest of 11.He became part of Force Recon of the Marine Corps after he graduated from Technical High School in Omaha, Nebraska.During one of his tours in Vietnam, he met and married Esther Mendoza on August 26, 1963.From their union there were four children, Jannette, James Jr., Elaina, and Jeffrey. James became a decorated boxer in the Marine Corps known as “Sugar Bear.”He was also a Purple Heart recipient.He continued his service by working at Offutt Air Force Base, eventually retiring from government service, he worked at Arrow Stage Lines as a driver. For a couple of years during the College World Series, he was the “driving force” for Louisiana State University’s championship baseball team, as the bus driver charged with driving for those years’ teams.Due to his failing health, he then had to leave the job he enjoyed. He was known for sharing his life stories, humor, colorful language, traveling, and learning technology.He will be greatly missed. His legacy continues with his wife, Esther, children, and many grandchildren and great-granchildren.He is survived by his brothers Robert and Curtis and sisters Dorothy Toney, Thelma Warren, Joyce Toussaint, and Ruthie LeFlore as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents, James Jr., brothers Charles, Willie Jr., and Herman and sister, Dorothy Hadley. Graveside services to be held Monday, December 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Road, Omaha, Nebraska.
