James Alan Sloderbeck

February 13, 1956 — October 2, 2022

James “Jim” or “Jimmy” Sloderbeck was born in Omaha, Ne, on February 13, 1956, to Darl and Wilma Sloderbeck. He was the youngest of five siblings. As a young boy, he loved collecting baseball cards and camping with his family. In the 8th grade, he was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He graduated from Omaha Technical High School in 1974.

Jim raised three kids — Jamey, Jaycie and Amy. He had many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jim worked hard so that he could afford to take his children on many vacations with his sister and her family. Many summers were spent playing Yahtzee in the back of a van traveling across the country to places like: Lake of the Ozarks, Silver Dollar City, St. Louis Arch, Cedar Point, Niagra Falls, Wrigley Field, The Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Jackson Hole, Estes Park, and so much more. Many winter vacations were spent skiing at Winter Park and Steamboat Springs in Colorado.

Outside of family, Jim loved music, cars, mountain bikes, jet skiing, cooking, mushroom hunting, animals, and horse racing. Boy, did he LOVE horse racing!!!!

On Sunday, October 2, 2022, Jim succumbed to years of enduring many ailments and illnesses. He was 66 years old.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Darl & Wilma; brothers Roger & Randy; He is survived by his Fiance Traci Laney; children: Jamey (Rose) Sloderbeck, Jaycie (Max) Vogt, Amy (Calvin) Nielsen; brother David Sloderbeck; sister Mary Franck; many grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
