HUNTER, James Jr. July 20, 1935 ~ August 11, 2017 Age 82 of Omaha James Hunter Jr. was born to Maynella Hunter and James Hunter on July 20th 1935 in Darlington, Alabama.James was the eldest of 8 total children. James and his family moved to Omaha Nebraska when James was a toddler. Growing up he attended Long Webster Tech School. He attended and was baptized at Bethel AME church. He later joined the Airforce in 1953 where he served proudly. While growing up in Omaha, James met his sweetheart Janet Allen. James and Janet were married on February 23, 1954 and soon after they had their first child Cheryl Ann Hunter ( Prince) and a few years later a baby boy James Hunter III. James and Janet loved to travel, fish cheer on their favorite team, the Nebraska Cornhuskers! James and Janet began to attend Robinson Memoria church where they both rededicated their lives to the Lord. James and Janet served the Lord at Robinson Memorial for over 30 years. James had many jobs during his life but one of his favorite was as a bus driver for Head start in 1986. James served as a bus driver for Head start where he greeted each student with a warm smile and cheerful spirit everyday including his granddaughter, LaCheryl. James loved his family and often used his love for the road to explore with them taking his granddaughters Akeya and LaCheryl to Husker games, amusement parks and state parks where he showed off his fishing skills. James was a very strong spirt who fought until the end. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Maynella and James Hunter, wife Janet Hunter, Mother and father in law Lorraine and Robert James Jr., brothers Johhny, Sammuel , Jackie, Robert and Alphonso and his sister Margie. He leaves a legacy of love and many who love him including his, His sister Maynella Parks, sister in laws, Patricia Allen, Jaunita Hayes, Norma Hunter; daughter Cheryl Ann Prince (Husband, Gayland)his son, James Hunter ( special friend, Rita ) Grandchildren, Akeya Deyo ( Husband, Alan) LaCheryl Ameer-Bey (Husband, Raheem) Tyree Fulton (Wife, Sincere) and great granddaughters ( Bri’Jae F and Sy’Nia Fulton). HOME GOING CELEBRATION: 11:00 am Friday, August 18th at Braman Mortuary 72nd Street Chapel.
