Iris Dau passed on August 16, 2015 in Omaha, Ne. Iris was born April 20, 1930 in White Owl, SD, to Roy and Edith (Clayton) Chord. She was 8th in the long line of 10 children. After working her way through High School, Ike graduated in 1948. Mom’s independent spirit brought her to Omaha NE. She married, began her family while working at Mutual of Omaha. By 1970 she was an established homemaker with seven delightful children, living in Yutan NE. Over the next 20 years she remodeled homes, became a grandmother, re-entered the workforce, while continuing to raise children at home. Upon reaching retirement Ike settled into her role as a loving grandmother and a crime-fighting greeter for Walmart. Ike retired after 13 years in October of 2014. Grateful for having shared her life are seven children Sue (Ray) Schmidt, Omaha, NE; Pam (Darl) DeArmoun, Dumont, IA; Marsha Grosch, Glenwood, IA; Michael Matthews, Omaha, NE; David (Wendy) Dau, Syracuse, UT; Dita Dau, Peyton, CO; Teresa (James) Postma, Rapid City, SD; siblings Ruth (Randy Holden) Mayer, Dana Point, CA; Ilowee (Willis) Owens, Tucson, AZ; Richard (Joan) Chord, Gillette, WY; Paul Chord, Prescott, AZ; also 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 9am at Community Covenant Church (15770 Q St. Omaha NE) followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10am. Internment is at Voss-Mohr with a luncheon afterwards at the church.
