Kurz, Ira Samuel "Butch" 2/5/41 - 11/17/19 Ira Samuel Kurz, "Butch", was born on February 5, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY to Louis & Rose Kurz (Margolies). He grew up in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY where he attended New Utrech High School. At the age of 16, he moved to Clifton, NJ with his parents and graduated from Clifton High School in 1959.He attended Union Junior College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and earneda bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University. He met and fell in love with Carol Ann Dixon, of Clifton, New Jersey on July 6, 1962.They married on September 5, 1963 and had five children, Marc Allen Kurz, Kelly Ann Kurz, Brian Terry Kurz, Scott Michael Kurz, and Casey Colleen Kurz. Ira’s first job was at Walco-Link.He went on to beome a quality control accountant for Continental Can Company of Passaic, New Jersey from November 1968 until he transferred to Omaha, Nebraska in February 1988.He then worked for Anacomp Magnetics until the company dissolved.He went on to work for Streck Laboratories, Bright Horizons Daycare, and retired from Nebraska Furniture Mart in 2006. In his spare time, Ira enjoyed playing recreational softball, rooting for his favorite teams: the New York Giants, New York Mets, and New York Rangers, and most of all, spending time with his children and grandchildren.Ira believed nothing was more important than family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Rose, his sister Betty Gottesman (Kurz), brother-in-law, Marty Gottesman, and his daughter Kelly’s fiancé, Kurt Juracek, and his dogs Henry, Murphy, Mikey, Jake, Joey, and Shadow. Ira is survived by his wife, Carol, of 56 years, his five children and significant others: son Marc Kurz and wife Connie Kurz, daughter Kelly Kurz, son Brian Kurz and wife Luana Kurz, son Scott Kurz and girlfriend Julie Fielding, and daughter Casey Kurz and husband Jerred Zegelis.He is survived by 9 grandchildren and significant others: Nick Howell, Teresa Perez-Howell and wife Rosie Perez-Howell, Holly Hobert (Kurz) and husband Joseph Hobert, Madison Jarecki, Jade Kurz, Hayley Jarecki, Cameron Kurz, Mason Kurz, and Logan Zegelis.He had two great-grandchildren, Robert William III Perez-Howell, and Liam Ray Perez-Howell.He is survived by his sister, Lila Teitelbaum (Kurz) and brother-in-law Steve Teitelbaum, and his nephews Richard Teitelbaum, Stuart Teitelbaum, and Morey Gottesman and wife Sandi Gottesman.
